Design and Development

Percival Aviation is an EASA Part 21 Sub-Part J Design Organisation.

The Design Department is at the heart of all product and certification programmes. Utilising the latest CAD software, all design work is carried out in house under the guidance of the Design Manager.  Having the Design Organisation Approval enables Percival Aviation to provide complete design solutions for each customer requirement; enabling fully certified, approved products for direct installation on to the aircraft.

To support customer requirements, the design team liaise with airframe manufacturers, Airworthiness authorities around the world and with suppliers.

It is vitally important at the start of any new design to know the process technologies and materials available to ensure that any new product will meet certification, cost, manufacturing and reliability requirements.  Percival Aviation apply this methodology across the complete product range, recognising that when completed at an early stage in the concept design, this has the potential to greatly influence manufacturing and other life cycle costs before they are locked in.

Percival Aviation’s EASA Approved Design Organisation is growing a reputation for on time, cost competitive design solutions.  A particular strength of the Percival Aviation design team is their product improvement capability. This is where a component can be analysed and re-designed to improve the reliability, cost, availability, colour/airline branding, or a combination of each. Examples of these type of components are; lavatory waste flaps, seat ashtrays, bulkhead mounted literature pockets, lavatory threshold plates, seat arm cap’s and many more

The Design Department work in conjunction with the Quality Department to prepare and delivery in house test data to CS25.853 and work with outside agencies to ensure all airworthiness requirements are complied with for any given project.
